I recently viewed an opportunity to join in a chain letter where you ask to be added to someones mailing list. Then you send $1.00 to each of six names on the list. Your name goes on the botton of the list and the top name comes off. Then you post messages on message boards, e-mail to friends, etc. You are directed to keep a compiled mailing list and to make sure you report income and pay taxes. According to the author of the message, the Post Office claims it is legal. Also the author claimed to have contacted an attorney, and the attorney claimed it is legal. May I please have your opinion? Return answer may be by e-mail at Collie_W_A@msn.com

I'm not an attorney, but in most states this would be legal as long as you report the money and pay taxes on it.
i, however, would not join anything like this--it's dumb and more trouble than it's worth--you'll lose more than just a few bucks.
take your money and buy lotto tickets--you won't screw your friends and it's legal, as long as you're 18 or over!
good luck, alan999
