I am doing a study comparing UK and US crime. do you know how I could find out the UK per capita murder rate, general violent crime problem in UK compared to US, approx ownership of guns in Uk, laws about gun ownership in the UK? number of persons in UK prisons per capita? There is this debate about gun control in the US and how there is suppose to be less crime in the UK since there are not as many guns? some say it is changing because guns are being used more in the UK. Any comments to help me?

Hi low4ell,
Here is the website for the UK Home Office Research site! It has all the stats you need for the UK side of your study. Browse at
http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/rds/index.htm
If this doesn't go thru ok (I took a couple of turns) go to: http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk and go to A-Z index and to stats!
And here is your American equivalent!
http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/welcome.html which also has linked sites!
For a range of Criminal Justice Stats sites try starting at: http://www.pansw.asn.au/Links/internatresearch.htm
Which is the Australia (NSW) police site for stats and research!
Happy studying
