I am 32 now, but went to South Padre the year (88' or 89') that two UT students were murdered during spring break in Metemoros, Mexico. Although I remember it happened, can't remember any of the details and am unable to find anything on the web and don't have access to archive newspaper / magazine. My buddy and I don't remember if people were arrested and convicted or if this remains unsolved. Curiosity and a 12 pack have peaked our interest.
Do you know any of the details and/or where we could look to find out?

I remember that very well because I was in South Padre when Mark Kilroy was abducted and murdered. I dont remember the year, but I believe it was 88 or 89. The way it went was he was enticed by a female who was the "mistress" of a cult drug lord. They took his body to a ranch in outside of Matamoros and cut it in pieces and performed a ritual with his body parts to keep the "law away". There were other people there who were prisoners and or soon to be ritualized victims also. Soon after a prisoner who was tied up in the barn, managed to escape and notify authorities. When authorities arrived, they found many shallow graves as well as dismemberd body parts of different victims (one which was Mark Kilroy). The authorities managed to apprehend many people there, but were unable to apprehend the actual drug lord and his mistress, until under interrogation, one of the farm workers confessed to the where abouts of the drug lord. The Mexican police were then led to a hotel room in Mexico City where the police and druglord had a shootout. The druglord took his mistresses life, then his own. Hope I helped. Good luck Ed
