BBB asked this question on 5/7/2000:
I just want some advice. I am from the UK and lost touch with a penfriend from the US who last I knew was experiencing marital difficulties and had probably moved out of her apartment. I am trying to track her down. I have seen these ads on the net where they can find the where abouts of someone based upon their name, last location, age, etc. I just wanted to find out if anyone on Askme.Com had used these services and whether they found them useful.
Please ONLY ANSWER MY QUESTION above. I don't want any uncalled for messages from Diviners, Psychics or Fortune Tellers. Thank you.

I would suggest that you exhaust your resources before giving anyone a dime. With the internet at your disposal you should be able to do some pretty thorough searches.
Although you gave "tcsmpsi" two stars, he is correct. Use the search engines. Use them all. They all search differently. Search using any info you have. If you need a list of the MANY "search engines" you can get them by (go figure) searching in the search box, try YAHOO
The problem with these "We can find anyone" agencies is they can't find the actual person they just find traces of that person. You are looking for a solid phone number or email address and you by yourself should be able to find one IF it is out there.
Here is where I would start:
http://www.whowhere.lycos.com/
http://www.iaf.net/
http://www.searchamerica.com/
http://www.bigfoot.com/
http://people.yahoo.com/
http://www.webcrawler.com/reference/reverse_telephone
Thanks, I hope this helps! Please take a moment and rate my answer. Thank you!!
