where can i find recent statistics on gun control and gun violence ?

I recently attended a seminar on School Violence Prevention and one of the speakers was John Shanks with the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence, and his phone number is (202)289-5791. They also have an educational program component, STAR, (202)289-7319, ask for Alicia Horton. His officer should have useful statistics, though they may be biased. You may also wish to check out the NRA web site for THEIR views and figures. Another useful site may be the FBI, looking for their UCR (uniform Crime Reporting) stats for previous years.
