Why can't I learn what I want to learn? Why can i only have 2 electives throughout every year of highschool? Why, if I want to write books and learn languages do I need to learn what kind of rocks are located where on this earth, and on other planets. And why do I need to learn which part of the flower produces polin when I'm absolutely positive that when I'm 40 I'll be teaching English class at my daughter's elemtary school? Why is society so dictatorial without even knowing it?! (If possible, email me with an answer at: Danak7@aol.com)

yes i agree with you that society is at times dictating how we do many things in our lives as members of said societies all over. but there a mathod to the madness behind being taught subject matter that at the time may seem irrelevant. it is simply that a well royunded person should have some knowledge of many different areas of life, and the world around us. it may partly be because the more we gain knowledge of many various topics, not only do we become more intelligent, but there lessens many fears, and thus lesens prejudices, because prejudices are based on fear of the unknown, but knowledge lessens the degree of the unknown .
