The East Grinstead Courier, April 5, 1984, had 2 photos of "forty disenchanted placard carrying Scientologists" demonstrating near St. Hill. Some of the picket signs were:
Down with the prices! Total Freedom End Church Monopoly Break the Monopoly Our ministers are entitled to use their own scriptures Independent Scientologists refuse church monopoly If it isn't fun, it isn't Scientology Religion or commecial empire? Down with DisconnectionA spokesman said they wanted the church to end it's "disconnection" policy and its monopoly of the scriptures. They also wanted to know whether Hubbard was alive or dead and what happened to the exorbitant funds they gave Scientology.
