Weather - Cold, sunny and windy.
There was not as much traffic on the streets today as at the previous picket, the Saturday before Christmas, which accounts for the lessened ack count. I don't know what accounts for the lessened car count at the org, except maybe the pickets, the 2001 boycott, the well-informed public, the internet - generally speaking, the efforts of all the critics. I had thought when MindSpring became Earthlink, that we might notice an increase in cars at the org, but that hasn't happened. Arrived around 2, left around 3. No action today whatsoever, except... There was a guy who sat outside the sandwich shop next door to the org, for an hour, watching us picket and drinking coffee. It's difficult to say for sure if he was co$, but it was rather chilly to sit outside for that length of time, and after we finished picketing, he left, so I suppose he was there to keep an eye on us. If so, this is the most confront they have had in months. Two cars left while we were there. For the stats dept, there were two adults who left in one car, and an adult with a child in the second car. Wynot made sure they got a glimpse of the "Who is Xenu? Find the answer on xenu.net." sign, keeping the "Scientology Lies" sign aimed at the street. My sign said "What is Scientology? A bait and switch SCAM!" Once thing I've noticed about the honks and waves - they're becoming bolder. Where we would get quick honks before, something's happened now. We're getting people laying on the horn, for a long doppler effect honk as they pass. It's great! Some of the people waving or giving us thumbs ups take great care to make sure we see their acks, and we always give them a wave or a smile. Many of the ones who don't honk are craning their necks to read our signs. Then they look at the sign at the org that says "Church of Scientology" and "Hubbard Dianetics Foundation", then they read our signs again. I think the ones who honk are the ones who ALREADY KNOW about co$, and the ones craning their necks are the ones who are about to FIND OUT about co$. Today even the bus driver who passed us honked. :)
