To Harry Palmer, Avatar Founder & Squirrel -- an open letter Dear Harry, Your veiled threats to the webmaster of the Awareness Page are beginning to slightly piss me off. Your posturing about the "Guardian Identity" will remind any ex-Scientologist of certain events that happened around 1981.Your crap about "those who attack the Avatar Network" is quite reminiscent of the old-time Guardian's Office tone in fact. You just can't get out of that L. Ron Hubbard valence, can you? I am also getting a bit tired of being trolled by your minions who attempt to get me to e-mail them the Avatar Sekrit Skriptures or quotes therefrom. Do you think I'm that stupid? Then there was the guy who wanted to buy my 1991 article, "The Wiz of Orlando" in order to get it taken off the as a birthday present to you. Hey, everybody has his price, but his/your offer was pretty low. It's nice that he wanted to get the stats up, but the article is still right there at http://www.scientology-kills.org/avatarpg1.htm and in a mis-formated newsgroup repost at http://www.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=499832529 ...and your staff is still lying by telling people that the article is a lie. It is entirely factual and you know it. Or perhaps your memory is as fallible as your knowledge of copyright law. If you were going to sue me for anything you found libelous in that account, you should have done it awhile back. The Statute of Limitations has long since run out. Gosh, when Time Magazine came out with the big Scientology expose that same year, the Cof$ didn't miss a beat in going after Richard Behar. Recently, I note some interesting discussions about Avatar and this article on the guestbook discussion area of the Awareness Page: http://www.clever.net/ozark/awareness/guestbook.html where people mention your blustering and threats of reprisals against anyone daring to reveal your copyrighted materials. Well, Harry, I haven't done that yet, but if I wanted to, here is what I would do: I would take the French translation and doctor it a tad so it would come out pretty much verbatim in English when run through a computer tranlation program, then have someone put it on a French website en francais. You might find it a bit difficult to bring a harassment lawsuit in France, don't you think? We both know the reason you have not visited France for some time, don't we? (For anyone else who doesn't, it is contained in the article.) Of course, I'm not going to do that. Instead, I think I'll complete a back burner project I've been working on in my spare time over the past few years. It is a short though juicy book called "The Trouble with Gurus" which first details my experiences in Scientology, then goes on to discuss Avatar, using the text of "The Wiz of Orlando" with a few more specific discussions about the Avatar Course and some more interviews with disaffected associates of yours, which are not hard to locate. The book will conclude with some further observations of the similarities between you and Ol' Ron. Then it will be published as a book. I will give it to my book agent with a two-month deadline for sale. If it isn't picked up by that time, I will publish it myself in both printed and elecronic form available for download. I mean, heck, this topic seems to be interesting to people, and I'm in the publishing business, so why not? I will, of course, pass any revisions in the manuscript by you to ask if you have any clarifications or comments to make--just as I did back in 1991. And then I'll be happy to send you an autographed copy. ARC, er, best wishes, Eldon M. Braun EldonB123@aol.com
