[Dunno how this one didn't get posted at the time. As far as I know there's
been no followup on this one, so I presume it was just an accident.]

Baby hurt in fall
A BABY was in a critical condition at Sydney Children's Hospital in
Randwick last night after falling two floors from a staircase.
Police said the 15-month-old was being minded with others at the Church of
Scientology in Castlereagh St in the city, when it wandered away and fell
through a gap in a steel railing about 11.30am.

I recently was told a story from the mid-80s where a person came to the
rooms at the back of the Fort Harrison, first floor, in the same row as
the room Lisa McPherson was kept. That person found 17 infants in two
rooms in the care of two people, one a 12 year old, the other an adult.
They were filthy, they had diaper rash that was untreated to the point
where the skin was completely raw. They were all crying at the same time,
and some were severely dehydrated. There was basically no care being given
at all.
The person made a complaint, was told that they had an overt and needed
ethics handling. Since all the person had done was walk to the rooms, this
didn't make any sense. It was a key moment in starting to question
Scientology, and left shortly after that.
I don't know what sort of child care they provide in Australia, but under
the circumstances in the 80s, I can see a child getting away very easily.

Similar situation happened in Hamburg, in a scientologist facility
called "Happy Kids". The city had to close it.
The "baby hurt in fall" story is a typical example of unsupervised
children. In a real daycare facility, this would mean a lawsuit.
