I got a New Year's phone call from an old friend who now lives in the Tampa Bay Area.Years ago when I was in the cult,I got her to come in and take a course.She blew after a couple of weeks,and it wasn't until a long time later that I found out her major reason for leaving.The Exec who did her "personality test" told her that one of her problems was not being able to say No to people.She agreed that that was true.As she puts it,"After I've known them a few days,they (the Exec and his wife) ask me to babysit their infant child for an afternoon.I want to be nice,so I say yes.The next thing I know,everyday they're bringing their kid to my house and not coming back for 8 or 10 hours,and paying me peanuts.I need to go out and job-hunt,but I can't because I'm a babysitter for Scientology.The people that were supposed to be helping me were taking advantage me,and using the weakness they knew about me to do it! Fuck them." Anyway,she doesn't have internet access,but gets occasional reports from me and Tampa TV news coverage of critics and Scn. She heard LRH's grandson Jamie Kennedy on the "Bubba The Love Sponge" radio program in November and decided to attend the Benefit.When I told her that OSA shills had been claiming the event hadn't been well-attended,she said "That's bullshit.Anyone who says that is a liar.It was crowded the whole time I was there." She was very impressed with Jamie Kennedy,saying he was intelligent and seemed like a kind person.She said he walked around and mingled,and answered questions that people had for him. When I kidded her that OSA goons probably took her picture,and maybe a picture of her license plate,she said "That's why I borrowed a friend's car." :) -Earl
