Possible press attacks on the book. They may not happen but it is best to have a strategy and I gave you one in controversy.
I think you could head the vultures off of scientology in any attack on the book simply by giving the media a better target.
They are SPs so not only misdirect (wrong target) but can be misdirected (wrong targetted). Target the (book), not Scn.
Here's where you need your PR network troops!
I leave the thought of several capers that could be done.
Some general in the US Air Force could be told the book defamed the US Air Force and if read by the Air Force would lower morale and get him to forbid Air Force personnel to read it.
Get the Chamber of Commerce Denver to ban it from Denver stores.
Get NASA to 1.5 against it as preposterous - that they could handle any such emergency as an invasion (remind them of the panics of Orson Welles=92 radio broadcasts).
The trick is, they don=92t have to sea or read the book.
All one has to do is have them (told) some exaggerated version of it that hits their buttons.
The American Psychological Association could forbid all its members to read it.
Now the beauty of it is, (none) of these pronouncements need to be (official). One just gets some crazy member of the body spouting off in response to the alarming report he=92s being fed and rush his quote to the press.
They could (say) it should be banned. This becomes ... they banned it. Then they (deny) it and you get double press.
An old Hollywood PR could whip up a fire storm over Battlefield Earth. The title above infers the planet is under attack. They like false PR - well, manufacture it for them!
The pity is, Mission Earth, coming right up, is a natural for these capers. The invasion in it is covert - right now. Covert invasion. Battlefield Earth is in the future but it is supposed to be happening this year.
So anyway, thinking like a Hollywood PR man, the key is to wrong-target the media onto the book with CONTROVERSY.
The media requires strategies like those of Clausewitz. His rules of war apply to media and legal. So this is war strategy - a diversionary action.= By the way, the movie "Halloween" had a PR who was very sharp.
I never saw so many blasts at a movie - criticism of it - and it drove the audiences into full houses.
(I don't like descending into the mess of lies they call press, but when one works in a swamp full of cottonmouths - he better learn to bite first.)
In the event we get a blast, or a disparagement, I think we ought to go flat out.
I think it would work.
