Just saw BE last night-- guest reviewer for a local radio station so I didn't pay for the tickets, else I'd have asked for my money back.
Has anyone noticed how eerily the movie portrays the last decades of $cientology itself?
The bloated, venal planetary leader--Hubbard--who is manipulating the underpaid workers for his own benefit (while enjoying the fringe benefits on the side) is outflanked by the even more venal assistant.
Terl/Miscavige eventually does away with him by getting Hubbard, I mean the planetary leader, to sign blank documents transferring all power.
(I imagine the leader is offscreen somewhere with a buttockful of Vistaril to keep him quiet.)
Said assistant then takes over the operation for himself, seriously underestimating the wogs who infest the mining base. He even tries to make a few bucks off the wog labor, a plan which blows up in his face, quite literally. The wogs blow the protective containment dome, allowing all sorts of fresh air and television cameras in to spoil the party.
The defeated assistant then finds that his chief lieutenant--a chap who happens to be several shades of skin darker than he--has gone over to the enemy, taking $ciento secrets with him to aid in the battle.
