Letter to the editor, SP Times:
I would like to thank the SP Times for its excellent articles on Scientology this weekend. It takes a particular kind of editorial courage to publish such a piece from the very heart of Scientology Central, Clearwater.
I must point out, however, that Mr. Farley allowed spokesperson Ben Shaw to slip in a wee bit of misleading prestidigitation about Fair Game and its cancellation.
The actual order can be read here: http://www.xenu.net/fairgame-e.html
If you read this policy letter carefully, it says, "The practice of declaring people FAIR GAME will cease. FAIR GAME may not appear on any Ethics Order. It causes bad public relations."
This says quite clearly that DECLARING people "Fair Game" will cease! However, Hubbard's next sentence is most revealing, "This P/L (policy letter) does not cancel any policy on the treatment or handling of an SP."
Okay, so we can no longer DECLARE people Fair Game, but we can keep doing it. If there is any doubt about Fair Game's continued use in Scientology, just look at Ben Shaw's complaint in yesterday's paper, about the unfairness of the articles. He attacks people's characters, accuses them of illegal acts, and...oh, wait. Isn't this the same "church" that hired a private investigator to frame Jesse Prince for drug manufacture and use? Why, I believe it is!
Ben Shaw, quit lying about Fair Game. You just proved that the practice is alive and well within Scientology! -- -- Spidergraham Chaplain, ARSCC xenubarb@netscape.net
