The speculation as to the "official" attendance at the benefit concert is getting out of hand. Nothing is "sekrit" about it. Nothing is being avoided. Truth is, we haven't met with the club management yet to get their numbers...you see, some of us have lives other than here on ARS. Also, many VIP and press passes were handed out, and not "officially" counted. Therefore, a guess is going to be the best we can do for now. If that is what you want, we would guesstimate that between 300 and 400 people attended the event. Obviously, this is spread out over the entire day. And this does not count the PI's and Scientologists who only listened from the parking lot or while cruising past. Earlier in the day, the event was modestly attended. Later into the night, the club was quite full. People came and went all day long, some leaving earlier and returning later in the evening. We feel that the event was a success on all levels, as its primary purpose was to educate the public about the Lisa McPherson Trust. The local press and radio coverage that featured the event and the MC, Jamie Kennedy, was especially important in reaching a "new" audience. We owe a special thanks to Bubba at 98 Rock for the great time on his show, on the higest rated radio station in the Tampa Bay area. Regardless of how this attendance will be portrayed in further discussions here, please know this: The event featured all LOCAL musicians, with our guest MC being the only out-of-town or nationally recognized performer. The event reached out to the local rock music fan base, and to others interested in the mission of the Lisa McPherson Trust. Whether attendance was 10 or 10,000... this event would have been a success just because it took place. Scientology needs to know that their harassment, intimidation, threats, assaults, character assasination and blackmail WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in our community. The area music scene came together to collectively make a stand against this intolerant cult. Scientology tries to smear or intimidate individuals, and even discounts their opinions by calling any critic a criminal. They even tried to smear the bands and organizers of the event with both direct and "anonymous" PR. They cannot deny that they do this... in fact, they admit that they follow LRH's words, "Always Attack, Never Defend." This concert was a message to the "not a turn the other cheek kind of religion." If you choose to continue to follow such destructive and abusive directives, be prepared for more and more people to speak out and to disagree with you. Are you prepared to attack them ALL?
