The Scientology cult has a history in the UK and right now they're trying to get recognized as a "charity" in the UK.

The cult's International President is, in fact, on the lam from the Spanish law after jumping a billion dollar's bail and fleeing back to the United States. He's (along with 8 others) was tried and convicted in absence of engageing in espionage for a foreign power -- the Scientology cult.

The cult runs several scams in the United Kingdom. Among one of the worse is "Narconon" which claims it can get people off of drugs and, of course, very rarely admits that they're the Scientology cult trying to get recruits.

The cult also runs "ABLE" in the UK which is a variation of their Applied Scholastics scam. Like Narconon, they don't mention the fact that these are Scientology companies designed to acquire followers.

The cult has been trying to claim that they're a religion except that there are court documents which cover the documents seized in many raids where the cult's leaders deliberately contrived the notion of a religion to acquire tax exemption status here in the United States.
