Heh, the great fraud actually *makes* that claim in 'Clear Body Clear Mind'. He also claims that a 'research group' tested the Purif to see what effect it had on PCBs - one of the most persistent toxins known. Of course, the 'group' remains unidentified to this day, nor is there *any* mention of where and when their 'study' was published.
Boasting about the effectiveness of the Purif, the old fraud changes the claim to 'several different chemicals'. What a rogue!
"In 1984, a physician reported in the journal 'Clinical Research', his findings after testing the fat of a person who underwent the program. At the end of 53 days, he reported that the tissue level of a DDT-related chemical (DDE) was reduced by 29%...." 'Clear Body Clear Mind' p.238
Note that the medical research genius Hubbard carefully doesn't specify *when* in 1984. He can't.
It's a straight-out lie. No such article was ever published.
He does actually 'cite' a 'researcher' by name (Dr Max Ben) and a 'publication of the National Safety Council'. Guess what?
There's no sign of any such person in the Index to the Directory of Medical Specialists for the period around 1980-85. The 'publication' turns out to be 'National Safety News', indexed in such publications as 'Engineering Index Monthly'. Funny thing is, that there's no mention of 'Dr Max Ben' or of the Purif, or of anything remotely like it. Another whopper.
Now there's the standard of proof to which the dupes of $cientology adhere - just tell them as many bare-faced lies as you can think of, they'll swallow it all. It'd be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. Talk about 'double blind'!:-)
