From Chaos.org site
Well, I upset the Cult of Scientology by placing the Operation Clambake
Light version on my site. So they sent me what seemed to be a emi-polite
letter telling me to get rid of the copyright infringing material on my
site.
That was all fine and reasonable, but apparently, they sent a letter to the ISP that's hosting this machine saying they were going to sue, sue, sue!!!
Needless to say, panic ensued, and it took hours of explanation. So....
I'm putting together things in the background that should make me happy, make Scientology unhappy, and keep me out of jail or courts.
In the meantime, here's the letters exchanged so far, with the physical reply (with their evidence) sent to me waiting until I can type it in.
=== And === So now they've apparently told the company I was co-locating with that I'm violating the DMCA. It would have been nice to hear from them directly, wouldn't it? Also, from what I was gathering from a discussion with the owner of the company, it seems that they're trying to Dead Agent me with some connection to online porn.
Things need to be worked out on my end in the real world, as there's always "the rest of the story" and that can literally take weeks, and maybe longer if I have to go to the hassle of suing the $cientologists, which, AMPaquette@aol.com, I have every intention of doing so, if it turns out you've libeled me.
What this means for you, oh constant readers of chaos.org, is that the site is down, but it is definitely not gone. There'll be more once I've got everything covered on the hosting and legal sides.

This gets more interesting yet.
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:www.chaos.org/other/clambake/alb um/index.htm (sorry about the line-break) "Well, I got the cease and desist letter from Helena Kobrin. So...
Pictures have been changed from the original until I can find out if David Miscavige counts as a public figure or if there's any other way I can use his picture.
"The thing that amuses me upon later consideration, is that the only problems the cult seems to have with these pictures is that they have Miscavige in them.
"Anyway, if you want the original pics, set your browser to www.xenu.net and follow the link to Scientology Photo Album. Have fun."
It will all be webbed later tonight. Plus I am cleaning up some 3am- related html errors in the pages that are up.
If you (or anyone else) learn anything else about this, please let me know.
