The insane attack against citizens of the United States via passenger jet has left me with an overwhelming sense of sorrow;
even anger at such an act is at best secondary to that sorrow. I woke up on Tuesday to viewing on television people flinging themselves out of a burning tower some 700 feet up, and I just sat on the foot of my bed crying for them. The mind grows numb with shock at such a sight.
With the attacks on the World Trade Center towers and the USA Pentagon, we observe religion-motivated horror. We also observe brainless, compassionless politicians who wring their hands and insist that citizens "pray for the victims." How is it possible than any human being, let alone hundreds of thousands, can observe the horror and misery that religion can inflict upon humanity, and with that vision barely faded from their retinas, suggest more religion as the cure for that horror? Is reason and basic human decency utterly gone from the world? Or are those who council praying at victims of religious fanaticism merely grossly lacking in tact and compassion?

No, they are just brainwashed. More so than in Scientology unless you
were born in it. If you teach a child to pray then they are stuck with
it for life. And when God fails them then you can not expect them to
turn away from religion. They will hope that if they pray some more then
a solution can be found.
Christians are maybe the most deluded of all. Here you have Jesus, who is the son of God, being scarificed for their sins. This sacrifice should have returned mankind back to a state of grace with God as in the garden of Eden. When it was obvious this did not happen then the explanation was that the day of judgement was going to happen any day soon so there was no need for this return to a state of grace. The early Christians accepted this as the reason. However it has now been two thousand years waiting for this second coming and day of judgement.
There is obviously no sense to this if indeed Jeses were the son of God and took away the sins of the world through his sacrifice. Christianity is seen to be a nonsense religion. There are also promises in the new testament such as "anything thou shalt ask in prayer, believing, thou shalt receive". And of course it doesn't work. But since they have been brainwashed from an early age then they still pray and pray harder to find a solution rather than come to the logical conclusion that Christianity is a crock of shit.
So this is how the Christian brain functions (I won't use the word "think" since that implies an independent and rational process) in a situation like the WTC being hit and five thousand people killed.
1) It's because we did not pray enough.
2) It's because, thru our actions, we have turned our back on the Lord and so He has removed His protection from us.
3) It's God's direct punishment for a too free society and because of pornography, homosexuality etc.
4) It is because Satan is assuming power for the above reasons.
So when a disaster happens and even when they can not ascribe it to any
of the above then there is still remaining this idea that prayer can
achieve something. So they pray for the victims who were killed. Fuck
knows why, since it isn't going to bring them back to life, but pray
they do.
You have just got to think about Christianity logicall for a couple of minutes to work out that it is a crock of shit. But is you have been brought up as a child and taught to pray from an early age then it is not possible to think your way out of it. It is "brainwashing" in every sense of the word. So don't be surprised if you see and hear politicians praying. The cure for religion not working is more religion, to them. It is the only solution that will occur to them. And even though they know full well their religion teached them to "turn the other cheek" they will still go ahead and bomb the fuck out of people all round the world and pray while they are doing it.
