CWPD has agreed no longer to investigate crimes of Scientology.
If they don't file charges on this one, I'll assume that does, in fact, mean that Scientologists are allowed to go around committing whatever crimes they feel like.
Dennis Clarke was probably just testing the waters, and if it turns out it's legal in Clearwater for Scientologists to beat people up, they'll make it policy.

It'll be interesting to see if there's any change, now that Roberto is out
of the picture. I seem to recall speculation after the hammer attack that
Roberto was pressuring the local police to go light on the cult. The
handling of this attack will speak volumes about the local police and if
they've been bought by the cult or not.

It already *is* policy. If it wasn't, they wouldn't be doing it.
Of course, if they continue to beat people up ON-CAMERA, that just means the critics will have more effective videotape to hand off to the news media.
Called "Nazis", and shoved around?
I can see some of these idiots *need* psychiatric help. I can also see that it's going to be important to carry cameras, tape recorders, camcorders, whatever documentation is needed...and always having a spare in case. These guys are prone to violence, and are apt to blame the victim for bullying *them*, just like in the past. Only it's getting epidemic.

Today (7/25/00) just as Ursula Caberta's press conference was getting underway, I was outside the trust filming various activity. Someone pointed out a lurker on the third floor of the parking garage behind the trust. I went up to see who it was, and who did I see but Dennis Clarke, local a.m. talk radio spokesclam, who was very unhappy to see me. He bustled past me and my female cohort, elbowing me and almost knocking her down...he went down a flight of stairs, and I stood above, videotaping him all the while ('tis my job, ya know). He then turned and ascended the stairs, yelling at me to stop taping him. To my surprise, he then punched me in the stomach while yelling that I was harassing him! He shouted that he wanted me to stop pointing the camera at him, so I pointed it down...and he punched me again in the stomach...this time in full view of the lens! He then left, and I alerted the police who were nearby, but they could not find him...
As they say, film at 11...Mark says he should have the clip posted tomorrow sometime...another fine production from LMT showing how the Scientologists REALLY behave in this world. I filed a complaint with the CWPD and will insist that this be pursued. The above description is close to the words I used in the complaint, just a factual description of what is on tape anyway.
I think Clarke is the same person referred to as attacking Bob, if the footage I saw is what is being described, it likely will be up soon. Mark has a lot of work on his hands right now, the clams have been active! Can you say enturbulation? I knew you could!
Much more took place outside the trust during the conference, including two appearances by MOXON who does not appear to be grieving. He instead has been reduced to process serving. Or attempting same.
The press conference seemed to go well. I would expect the St.
Petersburg Times to have some coverage of it tomorrow.
Take care all!
M (oof!) camera2 ps: The spitting scio's were as scary if not more so in person. It is that look in their eyes that is the most disturbing.

In the "Preface":
...
Recently, after the Church discovered that the book you are read- ing was being written, a roughly six foot four inch, 250 lb. man in black leather jacket and gloves arrived at my workplace asking for me.
Failing to locate me, he told one of my assistants, "Since Corydon's not here, you'll do." He then yelled, "You are standing in the way of Ron's bridge!"' and proceeded to punch him in the face and knock him around.
Obscene and threatening phone calls to my home became com- monplace, often occurring while I was out and directed at my wife, telling her, "We know you're alone."
L. Ron Hubbard, Jr. was contracted as co-author of this book and co-operated for more than half of its writing, providing information.
He was then offered an undisclosed amount of money by Church of Scientology representatives to settle his claim against his father's es- tate. There was, however, also a requirement that he must cease any assistance on the book and remove his name from it.
He signed papers to that effect. Lyle Stuart, the publisher, having in hand a prior signed contract, decided to go ahead regardless.
