Hi folks, The amount of e-mail from people seeking advice and counseling has recently increased, both from current members of CoS, former members and family or friends. Seems to me that more Scientologists have free access to the 'Net. I've been helping to put them in contact with people I know with similar backgrounds and experiences so that they at least have someone to talk to. Not being a former member myself I am not in a position to offer any council, except from some simple advice and words of support.
I suspect there are _many_ out there who would like to have some secure place to turn, but so far haven't because writing a total stranger with a critical site may not their first choice. Whether good resources exists or not, many seems to have problems finding them. Coming or posting to ARS is currently not an option for many either I believe.
This is why I would like to make a good resource page for people who are seeking help (if this doesn't already exist) and put it visible on Operation Clambake. I suggest someone take the initiative to form an Internet interest group for former members of CoS, it is obvious to me that there is a need for this. Volunteers in this group could offer their time to communicate with individuals seeking advice and support.
There is of course the threat that CoS will try to infiltrate such a group, but it is better to do something with this in mind instead of not starting anything.
I got the resources at Operation Clambake to set up many forms of mailing lists and WWW bulletin boards. On the xenu.net domain I can also offer unlimited e-mail aliases and a limited amount of full e-mail accounts for those who feel they need to hide their identity. A good idea would be to make a list of people volunteering as contacts where each of them are presented, explaining their background and experience. This way the visitors to the site can pick one or more they would like to contact. These contacts could have a xenu.net alias and could even be anonymous. All communication initiated through the interest group should, from the group contact, include a tag line in the end with an e-mail address where one can report if one is not satisfied with the person one is communicating with. This to better prevent OSA from infiltrating. It is important that this service makes the users convinced that their identity will be revealed.
The resource page should be the ultimate guide on how to get in contact with others, including step by step guides on how to connect to usenet and IRC. There should also be simple guides as to how one can post anonymously to the 'Net.
All this would require help from several critics and former member so set up, so please give me your opinions on this and let me know if you would like to contribute or volunteer as a contact person.
