Two birds, one stone
Re "Cruise leading man in war of the words" (June 25):
Never have I witnessed someone's perception of truth with such vitriolic disdain as Tom Cruise's purported "truth" of Scientology.
I am appalled at Cruise's arrogance. He appears to be on his own manic-depressive ride based on the "ups" on the Oprah sofa and the "downs" on Matt Lauer's questions.
Clearly Cruise's own regime of vitamins and exercise as he preaches it isn't working for him.
The most effective way to support the "choice" to feel mentally healthy is to boycott the film, "War of the Worlds," and go see Nicole Kidman's film, "Bewitched," instead.
That way, you can actually have a couple of sources of laughter: one at Kidman's film and another at Cruise's arrogant foolishness for being so pompous.

Come to think of it
Re "Cruise leading man in war of the words" (June 25):
Tom Cruise has about as much business dispensing medical advice as my Labrador retriever. Come to think of it ... I'd trust the dog more.

Cruise control
Re "Cruise leading man in war of the words" (June 25)
Tom Cruise is a Hollywood actor. He is not a psychiatrist. However, he seems to believe psychiatric advice is what he's qualified to dispense. And quite rudely at that.
I am no Matt Lauer fan, but I do think he did a great job in bringing to the surface the dangers in elevating celebrities to "know-all" status. I'll gladly take on the burden of walking through life without the enlightenment of Scientology, seeing the behavior of Cruise over the past month.
Good luck to Katie Holmes. She may need it.
