(301) 306-7070, ext. 102 CHADD Applauds Federal Court Ruling Leading Advocacy Group Promises to Continue Mission to Help Families Affected by Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Landover, MD- CHADD, the nation’s leading advocacy organization serving children and adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD) today praised a recent California federal court ruling dismissing a class action lawsuit that claimed there had been a conspiracy to broaden the clinical definition of AD/HD for financial gain.

Senior U.S. District Judge Rudi Brewster ruled that activities by the defendants in the suit are considered free speech protected under California's anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) statute. Judge Brewster also said that the plaintiffs "failed to show misrepresentation of any material facts, by whom any misrepresentations were made, when any misrepresentations were made, and where any misrepresentations were made as required by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure."

"The speedy dismissal of this lawsuit confirms our resolve to continue our mission to improve the lives of those people affected by AD/HD through education, advocacy and support."
