You thoughtless, selfish, mean-spirited bastards.
There was an increadibly moving, personal story on NPR last night about one man's struggle with depression and the ECT treatments that have helped him when drugs no longer would. He has lost his job, his home, his children, and very nearly his life to depression. ECT has kept him alive. And Scientology, for no other reason than to distract attention from the game of three card monty it plays with people's lives, would deny him the only treatment that helps. Your lies, your propaganda, your anti-psych agenda would have terrible consequences for real people if they were ever allowed to succeed. I know you can't see that. I know you don't care. But this is why you must -- and will -- be stopped.
From the NPR/All Things Considered website:
01.07.02 Electroconvulsive Therapy, or ECT, has long been a controversial treatment. But for some people who suffer from severe depression, ECT is a source of hope. Rob McGruder -- who suffers from bi-polar disorder -- is one of those people. Monday on All Things Considered, hear Rob McGruder's audio diary, as he describes his struggle to manage his depression.
