Marlin Cove Inc. has purchased 83 McAllister St. in San Francisco for $2.6 million.

The buyer plans to develop the now vacant 38,000-square-foot building, which was previously owned and occupied by the Church of Scientology, into housing.

Steve Pugh of Pacific Union represented the buyer.

In March 2003, the Church of Scientology purchased 701 Montgomery St. for $7 million.
