I finally figured out a way to figure out how many pages there are of the Scn'gy domain -- I think. It seems like to muddy the water Scn'gy has developed quite a few domains with the cookie cutter pages on it. I guess claiming more numbers than what really is there is just a sacrament that is going to have to be dealt with.
Actually, I decided to learn some power searching on Altavista, and what better way than to do it with the favorite fun cult.
**
To start, I looked at some stats on "xenu" and lisatrust.net via Altavista
advanced search:
URLs with "xenu" included in them: 2838 hits.
Linked pages to www.xenu.net: 2741
Titles of pages with xenu in it: 254
Pages with "alt.religion.scientology" on it: 7209
How many pages does xenu.net have: 1116
Pages of lisatrust.net: 121
Then I went to town on Scn'gy.
-scientology.org any language, no exclusions: 11943
-scientology.org English, no other exclusions: 9789
The rest of the searches are for Scn'gy domain in English (except
one) excluding:
on-line.scientology.org, home.Scientology.org and
myreligion.scientology.org.
I figure anything in another language is just translated, and I wanted to
eliminate the cookie cutter sites in respect for "legitimate" sites.
-scientology.org any language with the exclusions above: 3793
-Scientology.org pages English with exclusions: 2176
-scientology.org pages again, but eliminating "not found": 1966
210 pages are listed officially as "not found." Other search
queries resulted in 1112 pages designated as "not found."
-scientology.org pages that have to do with just "trademark notices": 62.
*note: that is with all the exclusions. I tried it without the
exclusions and every cookie cutter page came up with it.
-scientology.org that have "David Miscavige's" name in it: 1187
*note: his name is in the "META NAME="keywords" of the source of the
HTML. So I can't rightly say how many times his name is mentioned on
the Scn'gy pages themselves. His name is usually spelled every way
imaginable, including upper and lower case spellings. Interestingly,
"Shelly Miscavige" is mentioned 31 times.
My conclusion is that there aren't 20,000 legitimate pages coming from the
Scn'gy domain. At tops we are talking about 12,000. It isn't *that* bad but
still, there are exaggerations amongst other things. Scn'gy seems to believe
that quantity always equals quality. Frankly, I believe there is almost
always deceit when things are done so grossly disproportional to what is
needed.
Some more stats to make me happy (all in English):
-wise.org: 103 pages excluding these domains:
host:biz-wise.org, host:b-wise.org, host:market-wise.org.uk, host:sage-
wise.org, host:health-wise.org, host:word-wise.org.
-dianetics.org: 44
Excluding any mention of another country in the domain itself, that is:
italian.dianetics.org even in English was excluded.
-able.org: 147 pages found.
-narconon.org 98 pages found.
-cchr.org: 552 pages found
quite a lot, I'd say. Over1/4 as much as scientology.org has.
-criminon.org: 58
-lronhubbard.org: 1186
-bridgepub.com: 533
-freedommag.org: 139
However, with all the sub domains you get: 1316, that is domains
that have a syntax such as this: www.*.freedommag.org.
-thewaytohappiness.org: 72
So, my second conclusion is that there is no way in hell that Scn'gy has
20,000 pages up. Even if you include the cookie cutter sites. Take them away
and you have under 6,000 web pages.
Still, what's my point? Simply, Scn'gy lies once more. It's not like these sites can't be counted as easily as I have shown. When will anything that comes from the PR of Scn'gy that contains the truth to it all?
