Some friends of mine have a son who has been lured into Scientology in Chicago.
He works at the Org every day or night.
I haven't been able to help much because he knows who I am and refuses to meet with me. Recently these parents called me and said that their son had come home recently and that he looked terrible. They said that he had lost weight, his clothes were dirty, he was disheveled, he had no money, his sense of humor was gone and they said that he looked and acted as though he was in a trance. I said, " I'm sorry to say this but you have just described a Scientologist."
They replied, "We know."

There is some chance that picketing the org, especially if they can get a lot of friends to join them, might be enough to get their son thrown out as more trouble than he is worth.
The problem people have in cults is that with *some people* attention from other cult members is so rewarding they get as hung up on it as some people do on addictive drugs.
Being highly rewarded by attention worked just fine a million years ago, when about the only thing you could do for attention was to become a really good hunter. If you were highly rewarded for hunting your kids did well. The problem is we are left with all these stone age psychological traits that get us into all sorts of trouble in the modern world.
