CC,
Excelent post !
This reminds me of the various ways communications were controled at INT.
>From very early on one was instructed not to accept any mail from
outsiders since it could potentialy be a court summons.
Also the norm was that private personal mail be put in the "outgoing" comm basket without being sealed, so that it could ostensibly be "vetted" for anything that could expose the security of the INT base. The same was true for incomming private mail - it would be checked before one recieved it.
I always thought this was a big pile of BS. history has shown that such "security" is meaningless. Anyone could willingly bypass such "security" at any time.
I never understood why INT had to remain "secret" - until you apply the old russian state control paradigm - it was not designed to keep people out, it was designed to keep people in.
Time and time again this "paradigm" shows itself. OSA members will lie through their teeth and deny receiving things or wish communications to remain "limitied" in some form or another. That is why you have gag agreements. That is why you have Gerry Armstrong posting every comm cycle between him and CoS. The common factor is control of information though control of communications.
One of the key signs you are in a cult, communications are controled, it limits your access to information and thereby impairs your ability to evaluate what is going on.
That is why we have "rights", a free press, and its more current form, the internet.
