SECURITY WEAPONS

As the law does not permit the sale of powder weapons and as they are
no good in defense anyway as they leave bosies lying about, we are
specializing in tear and irritant gas weapons for handling intruders,
muggers and all that.

The area we are in and will be in has a high crime level and while our
ability to handle people is pretty good, we could collide with some of
the psychiatric and police brutalized characters that this society
permits itself to be infested with.

There are several types of gas weapons and two types of gas. Some of
the gas weapons fire grenades that explode, some are big like
flashlights and fire bursts up to 50 feet 18 times. The two types of
gas are "CN" and "CS". CN is, I believe, an irritant gas. CS is tear
gas.

Available to us easily are [sic] a little weapon like a cigarette
lighter called a "Guard Keycase". You rotate a white trigger on top of
the small container to the right to release the safety. Then you aim
for the head of the attacker and use like a fly spray. One of these
contains 18 one second bursts. You don't hold it down longer than you
count "And One". Then you can fire again.

Be VERY CAREFUL not to fire into the wind. IF you HAVE to fire into
the wind, shield your own face and eyes as you roll away or you'll
catch it back into your own face. And don't let it off in an
accidental fashion.

To get rid of it on the skin and eyes, wash the eyes with water and
the skin with soap and water. DO NOT USE OILS, CREAMS OR SALVES. After
washing expose the area to the air.

In use, practice so you can do a quick draw and don't just threaten
with it. If the assailant is armed with a gun, your guarding set up
should be that while one guard is held at bay by the attacker, another
comes in from the side with the gas gun and lets the attacker have it.
Don't give the assailant a chance to shoot. Act very calm and
soothing. Shoot him and ask questions afterwards.

Practice how to carry and fire so as to not alert anyone that you are
drawing or about to attack.

There is a short period of time when a man holding a gun can fire with
some accuracy before actually going down with the gas. So learn to
fire and rapidly roll to the side without spoiling your own aim.

When two or three staff are walking in a group, in any dangerous or
lonely area, do not walk abreast. Walk strung out in a line several
paces apart and cover each other. If the person at the front or back
of the line is approached the other or others swing in from behind or
to the side of the assailant and let him have it while the attacked
person goes on being soothing.

Essentially, the tactics that should be used are those employed by
skirmishers where one covers another.

You can buy these small gas guns anywhere they sell weapons. They
currently cost about $4.95 plus 4% tax. They are not reloadable. And
if you keep the safety on they won't burn your skin through a pocket.
But don't put a damp one just used back in your pocket as it will burn
the skin. Wipe it off and let it air out first.

It is a comm ev offense to be injured by an attacker. Or to be robbed
or beaten.

Until something new turns up, these small gas guns will be our
standard weapon. Learn how to use it.
