If you choose not to criticize Scientology, Clearwater is not a bad place to live. Nice beaches, nice people, lots of cool animals and such. But if you choose to publicly criticize Scientology, forget it.
We picketed and got screamed at, pushed, Dennis Clarke stuck gum on my camera lens, the cops just watched all this as we simply walked up and down with our signs. Watch the Mad Picket video at www.lisatrust.net and see the true face of Scientology.
I tried to buy a brick for a new city park and was told I can't because my brick would cause community disharmony. I tried to eat at a local restaurant and was told to never come back, even though I did nothing wrong. I complained to the county human rights office about this discrimination and was told it was ok for them to discriminate against me.
I was put under a permanent injunction that requires me to stay 10 feet from all Scientologists and not to initiate a conversation with them even though I've never done anything wrong and in fact advocate Ghandi Tech. This meant I could hardly walk downtown for fear of violating the injunction (remember, the judge even heard complaints just because Tory sat in Santa's chair!). I would have to look inside an establishment before going in to see if there were Scientologists there.
I was followed so often I bought a video camera so I could documents being stalked. The police said that stalking by proxy is ok and wouldn't do anything about it.
Almost every citizen of Clearwater that I spoke with had a bad opinion of Scientology. Almost every citizen I spoke with was also too afraid to voice that opinion. Is that not the definition of an occupied city?
The police and city officials were hell-bent on treating Scientology like they were the boy scouts rather than the lyng, dangerous group they really are.
Scientology has over 100 surveillance cameras in Clearwater.
There's even one in the new city park downtown. It is difficult to walk anywhere in downtown Clearwater without being watched by a camera or a security guy walking around talking into his phone as he follows you.
The Scientology magazine Source issue 100 says Scientology wants to make Clearwater the first Scientology city. If the citizens stay mute as they are and the city officials continue to kowtow to Scientology's whims, then they will succeed very soon.
I would like for all you here to go live in Clearwater for a year,
publicly criticize Scientology, and see for yourself what life is like
in an occupied city.

into McPherson's throat while others held her down,
it was "spiritual sustenance," the church argues.
