There was a meeting, XSO chat group reunion, at Las Vegas, for between 10-20 ex Sea Org members.
The rule was and is, that what happens in Vegas, stays at Vegas. Lots of drinking, eating, and sharing old stories. For 3 days for some, and 2 days for me.
There is plenty of years to come, for what I'd like to do, which is spend some weeks interviewing each of all of the old principle figures who are now out of the movement, and record whatever they are willing to share about their experiences and their opinions about it all, and then get that information put somewhere for history's sake.
I think I can share these general things, which I learned from this Las Vegas reunion:
1) Probably abvanced observers of the Scn movement already know firsthand stories of this, but this was new news to me. I learned that people like Greg Wilhere, who is still in the top ranks of the Sea Org (he was last known to be busted out of RTC and now working in next lower Int Base organization in the Int Base pecking order of organizations called CMO Int), that Greg in years past expressed indirectly that he understands, in effect, the "bad" things that DM has brought about.
Several stories I heard relate to Greg using the ploy to say "things will get better" with the implication that if people just wait it out, etc., and that David Miscavige's bad influences will be outlived and smoothed out by others once David Miscavige somehow makes his exit from the stage.
Of course, that hasn't happened. DM has just not let that happen. DM's marginalized and effectively beaten down all competition to replacing him.
But the important fact to me is that people like Greg Wilhere who worked for years doing DM's biddings, that he possessed this thought, whether he was conveniently using it, or he has levels of awareness where he actually recognizes DM's insanity. Greg's sticking it out inside the movement, still near the top ranks, but demoted to CMO Int, down from RTC, in 2005, the last word.
I don't think Greg's the only person feeling that way either. All the others who were in the former clique of "senior execs" (Norman, Ray, Mark Yager, Guilliaume), have all been hammered in recent years, and almost universally, in my opinion, share that hope that DM will vacate the top spot, and things will inevitably improve as a result. They're sticking in there to put the pieces back together, my impression, once DM's out of the picture.
Again, that isn't happening, and looks more unlikely. But as things worsen, it might just jog DM out.
(That's why I so hope people who've been hit and smacked and slapped and pushed and shoved and received any of David Miscavige's ranting scolding ridiculing behavior will come forward, especial who's received it in 2005-2006.)
------------------------------------
2) Separately, importantly, I learned that the former biggies who have "jumped ship" will help any of the existing biggies who are getting clobbered who are still in the Sea Org, if the existing biggies ever decide to "jump ship." If Heber, Norman, Greg, Mark Yager, etc., etc, if any of the current biggies need a place to go to begin to restart their lives, there are people in Las Vegas and around the world, who will lend a helping hand to any of the biggies who decide now or in the future to "jump ship."
But I am sure that Greg, Norman, Mark Yager, etc., etc., already know they have a place a stay and old friends who will help them restart their lives.
The offer stands, and will stand for all the years to come, for them. Their old friends will put them up, and help them restart their lives, if they "jump ship."
For years now in the Sea Org, there have been periodic fads of sec check questions asking Sea Org members if they had any outside contacts to "SPs", and this was done because no one wanted the people inside learning how easy it is to get out and get help restarting their lives after "jumping ship."
3) The former biggies who "jumped ship" are doing extremely well in life. There is no question people look great, and are a joy to be around. They have secured themselves a better life and everyone acts very unthreateningly normal once they are out of the Sea Org rules enforced pecking order hammering on one's subordinates and scapegoats and 1984 history revision game.
-----------------------------
4) 3rd hand story, humor. One former pretty high up biggy who already has "jumped ship" was wondering who would be perfect to lead the movement, and be most like LRH, and replace DM. This former pretty high up biggy was pacing back and forth, thinking outloud at an earlier gathering some time ago of other former biggies, then in a fit of sanity said, DM was the perfect replacement for LRH, and no better replacement was needed for DM. DM's even better than LRH at carrying out LRH's life's work.
So the Scn movement has the perfect match for carrying out LRH's works. DM. There's no better replacement for LRH.
--------------------------------
5) One last generic story. Others know this, I just couldn't believe it, but when you hear it from firsthand ex-participants, there's no contesting it. LRH had people unjustly busted, and then LRH "picked them back up", unquestionably as a sick manipulative tactic to secure people's support and gratitude for LRH. DM's doing the same thing. DM's following LRH's own sick behavior, and doing it better than LRH. This is another factor in the lives of those immediately around DM, but DM's even more the hammering them into submission type, he'd done that better than LRH. LRH was routinely a manipulative SOB and DM's even better at executing LRH's style than LRH.
Oh well. ----------------------------------------
I now see the point that one of the former major Sea Org execs who was spit on by DM years back, their advice to me months and months ago was get on with my life, as soon as I could, and enjoy it. Good advice.
The movement is snarled up in its own created troubles. There is a runway getting back to a normal life, and the sooner you get on with enjoying a normal life again, the better.
