An acceptable truth in 1975 was more like this:
Q: Does L. Ron Hubbard run Scientology?
A(ceptable Truth): L. Ron Hubbard resigned as director of all corporation in 1966.
It's true that Hubbard resigned as a director, but he continued to run every piece of Scientology down to the purchase or not of toilet paper.
And now:
Q: Does Scientology work?
A(cceptable Truth): (Fingers crossed) Sure.
It's a lie of course. Scientology does not work as it says it works, and as Scientologists imply it works when they say it works. But it's an acceptable truth because every Scientologist knows that Scientology works at least well enough to get them to lie about it working. That's Scientology working, right.
The idea is that no one can handle the bald faced truth that Scientology does not work, because Scientology is mankind's only hope.
So people must be told the acceptable truth that Scientology works, lest they be caved in by the realization that it doesn't work, and that mankind thus has no hope.
