Religious Freedom for Dummies: Say that, for the sake of argument, I am High Priest, Head Inquisitor and Fluffer-In-Chief of Slob-Nobber the Slime Goddess. One of the central tenants of Slob-Nobberism is that 2+2=5. ANYONE who disagrees with this is deluded, especially those pseudo-scientific cranks in the Accounting business.

In fact, Slob-Nobber has commanded her followers to sacrifice the "Counts" on her alter. Now, in America, anyone who wants to can believe in Slob-Nobber's teachings about accountancy.

Anyone who wants to can stand on a street corner and preach to the world that accountants must be killed. BUT, the moment that a Slob-Nobberan actually tries to slay an accountant, religious freedom no longer applies.

Moral of the story: Freedom of religion does _not_ mean that religious folks can freely commit actions that would otherwise be considered criminal. The same laws apply to religious folks as apply to the rest of the world.
