I ran into an old Scientology friend of mine I hadn't seen in years at a coffee house this past year in Hollywood where the subject of his going on the freewinds $cn ship came up in conversation.
I had already voiced in that conversation that I had nothing more to do with that $rganization where he dropped his defenses to tell me his own $cn horror stories.
I'll never forget his 'Free-Winds' story. Make a long story short, he had gotten into an 'ethics' mess with the ships EO where he was ordered not to leave the ship at any port of call until the 'ethics' situation was cleared up. He went to the ship to start his OT 8 auditing but ran into an 'ethics' snag with the ships EO. He was absolutely livid that he was basically held prisoner on board in that he could not leave under any circumstances. HE COULD NOT LEAVE PERIOD! I asked him what he did next. He said this house arrest went on for I believe 2 weeks. He wasn't allowed to do anything as far as study or courses were concerned, and since he basically told the EO to fuck off on doing her program, he just mulled around on the deck going nuts trying to figure out how he was going to free himself. He was so desperate to be free that he devised a plan to physically 'shimmy' his way down the anchor rope of the ship, which he said was hugh in comparison to his physical size. He's about 5'5" tall. I told him he could have been killed if he slipped off the rope and plunged from the deck to the ocean. He said he knew that but was ready to 'go for it' anyway because he couldn't take being an unwilling prisoner, even though the ethics officer wouldn't use that type of language concerning his unwilling incarceration.. But on personal safety reflections, my old friend decided against the attempt. He said he was even going to try doing it at night when nobody was around. Now mind you, this is a guy who up till then forked over 500,000 dollars to $cn as public only.. His lodgings were all paid up on board ship,,yet, they would not let him leave. The EO kept his passport. He finally resolved the matter by lying to the EO that he had to do some shopping for essentials at one port, where he got her to relax by his not demanding his passport or any of his possessions. He already made the decision to leave all of his luggage, clothes and passport behind to get off the 'Free Winds'. He did just that. How he was able to get from another country demanding passports back to the U.S. one can only speculate. He told me point blank that he didn't care about his passport and felt free just to get off that ship. At least he experienced a moment of freedom from------'The safest space on the planet'.
