This is a message to you if you are a Scientologist. And that is under no circumstances should you ever set foot on the Freewinds because it is loaded with deadly blue asbestos. Tons of the stuff and it is in its most deadly dangerous state - dry and flaking. The stuff lines every ceiling as well as a number of walls, It is the stuff on the ceiling that is the most deadly. It is cased in with ceiling tiles nut they have gaps between them. When the ship vibrates (which is common) deadly blue asbestos dust is sprinkled through the gaps and the finest fibres will be suspended in the air. These fibers will be breathed into the lungs of anyone on board. They are so small the lungs do not filter them out.
They end up in the air sacs of the lungs instead. This can result in the deadly cancerous disease called mesothelioma as over the course of years, these microscopic fibers work their way through the cells damaging them on the way until they reach the chest cavity. They they cause irritation and over the course of years this turns into a malignant cancer. The cancer spreads in the chest cavity to encase organs there. It can grow around the lungs or even grow around the heart to encase it. Treatment is very difficult. It takes thrity years or more, typically, to turn into cancer. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SAFE EXPOSURE. There have been plenty of cases of people contracting this disease AFTER ONLY ONE DAY'S EXPOSURE so you must not under any circumstances go aboard the Freewinds. You could be giving yourself a thirty-year-on death sentence but just spending part of one day there.
If you have been unlucky enough to ever stay on the Freewinds then there are some good web sites where you can learn all about this deadly disease. http://www.mesotheliomaweb.org/ is a good one and you will be able to read articles from surgeons and doctors who treat this disease.
http://www.mesothelioma-facts.com/ is another as well as http://www.elslaw.com/treatment.htm . I am not medically qualified so you should consult those who are. It is best if the disease is treated early. That way you may have a chance to survive given the right treatment.
What is the saddest part of it is that LRH wrote a bulletin about the dangers of fibre-glass. If management had been able to read and duplicate it and make that data their own then they would have known that it was even more applicable to asbestos. However, it seems management have the most trouble duplicating Source whereas all public Scientologists do it easily. This disaster would have been avoided if management were able to read and duplicate.
I suppose if you were 50 years old or more when you visited the Freewinds then since the disease would only catch up with you when you were 80 then it doesn't matter so much. You would be preferring to drop the body then and go on to get a better mock up. But it is sad to think of young people having gone aboard that asbestos-filled death-ship. My heart goes out to the young Sea Org staff on board who will die a horrible death just because management would not heed the written word of LRH. And the thought of people taking their young children with them on a Freewinds cruise is too horrible to imagine. The Freewinds has been around since about 1987. That means in 16 years time there could be thousands of Scientologists dying from this disease in cancer wards all around the world. And all because of an LRH bulletin being ignored by Scientology management.
