How to start a front group
Hey, boys and girls! How'd you like to start a front group? It's simple and profitable if you do it right.
First, you need to pick a problem to address. It has to be something that the majority of people agree upon, which means illegal immigration and miscenegenation are OUT! There's a rich lode of other topics you can address, illiteracy, drug abuse, environmental concerns, to name a few. Nobody isn't against literacy, save perhaps for a few fundamentalist Christians who would be happy to outlaw all reading material that isn't the Bible.
And certainly you won't find too many people supporting drug abuse!
Having selected a topic for your front group's focus, you will then need a plan. It doesn't need to be effective, as long as your promotional material sounds good. The majority of people won't question your statistics, even if they're outrageously high in your favor. Front groups depend on that.
Okay, you've got your topic selected. You've written up a plan to deal with it. Now you need to add the final ingredient which will give your group credibility.
If you're addressing drug abuse, you can go online and dig up information about the problem. You can outline the damage various drugs can cause, and cite credible sources.
The environment is another field where you can find facts put forward by legitimate studies. How many acres of rainforest disappear each year. How many people are projected to inhabit the earth in the next fifty years. How the subterranean aquifers are disappearing in America's desert regions. How many creatures are bound for extinction in the next decade.
By citing the work of scientists, institutes and distinguished organizations, you hope that some of their credibility will rub off on your front group. And unfortunately, it will! People who agree with your cause will simply accept the slush of fact and fiction you produce. They will assume that, if A is correct, B probably is as well. If they're interested in your field of endeavor, they will recognize the veracity of some of your borrowed information and slide over the rest.
So, what are you waiting for? Jump on the front group bandwagon today! The field is still wide open, and there are plenty of issues to choose from that Scientology hasn't yet exploited! -- --barb Chaplain,ARSCC
"Imagine a church so dangerous, you must sign a release form before you can receive its "spiritual assistance." This assistance might involve holding you against your will for an indefinite period, isolating you from friends and family, and denying you access to appropriate medical care. You will of course be billed for this treatment - assuming you survive it. If not, the release form absolves your caretakers of all responsibility for your suffering and death.
Welcome to the Church of Scientology."
