A recent poll at a Florida mall revealed that 3 out of 4 passersby had a negative opinion of Scientology. Could they be the *most despised* of all despicable groups in the US today?
Well...in any population, you're going to find people who support racism and, by extension, the KKK. Some people truly believe that the different variation of human form should be kept seperate. Chances are, that number could be greater than 3 out of 4.
And the Mafia! Yeah, they deal in human misery and are fueled by greed.
Drugs, gambling, prostitution, they're all right in the thick of all that. However, the Teflon Don, John Gotti, enjoyed considerable support in the old Italian neighborhoods in New York. In part, I think, was his charitable donations to help people in need. He also funded major festivities, with fireworks and fun. His funeral was attended by thousands of mourners, despite the fact that he was a criminal and a thug. People were grateful for his largesse and generosity.
Compare that with Scientology. Any time they collect a few bags of used clothes, they issue a press release. They give not, they abuse much.
I suggest that the KKK and the Mafia are far more popular than the cult of Scientology.
