Dear XXXX,
The only things we still use that we may have learned in scientology are more
based on common sense than anything revolutionary that L Ron discovered.
For instance, hubbard claimed to make landmark discoveries in the area of communication; i.e. listening attentively while another speaks and acknowledging their communication. This is just common sense-so to answer your question, I would have to say "yes" we still use SOME things we learned there, although, we surely would have picked these things up elsewhere, as the above is just plain good manners.
It is worth mentioning that we did throw out a lot of incredibly destructive L ron techniques. You may have picked up on the fact that the "church" uses hardsell tactics, sales techniques that involve wearing down the prospect, etc.
Can you imagine going to a doctor and having him "Hard sell" services to you?
This is some of the garbage that is promulgated in the WISE network and the docs unwittingly are destoying their future business and their reputation in the community by using these unsavory tactics.
As one very sane (real) professional consultant once said, "In healthcare, if you are perceived as "selling" YOU are inappropriate."
I couldn't agree more, Ed --
