We have received a refund from the IAS for everything we gave them. That came
to $10,500. We are currently pressing to get all the money we ever gave to
Flag. That comes to nearly $70,000. We are certainly entertaining the idea of a
law suit if our refund doesn't come soon. If we are forced to take this route,
the amount would include substancial damages. At this point we are contacting
federal and state agencies and are helping them to initiate investigations into
the fraudulent and deceptive practices of the cult, particularly with reagrds to
management consulting and WISE organizations. At this time we are only asking
for a refund of all money we have paid to Flag.
>As admirable as your video is I get the feeling that you are holding back and
>not revealing that much. You seem to be saying that you got out of the cult
>because you found some alterations in the 'Tech.' Most of us got out because
>we discovered that the 'Tech' is destructive bullshit. I get from this that
>you are still a believer in 'LRH;s' Golden Technology.
The video was made to tell the story of how we opened our eyes and left the
cult. This was sent out to all of our scientology friends and a couple of
hundred doctors in the WISE directory. Coming out of the cult was a gradual
trip for us. The THING that convinced us to leave was when we saw that the
"tech" was being altered by upper management. We have since been exposed to
other information that has convinced us that LRH, the OT levels and much of the
"tech" is bullshit. The hook in scn is that we did have wins on our lower level
auditing at our local org, albeit at a very high price. We have since come to
learn that much of this tech was taken from others and was not originally
formulated by L ron. So to answer your question, I would say that at the time we
made the video, we were trying to be cognizant and sensitive to how our friends
in the cult would receive it. We certainly didn't want to be carping critics,
they would never have watched it-plus, at that time we really weren't certain
about the tech.
>Also I get this and this may relate to the downward spin of your 'business.' I
>never once hear you refer to your clients-customers as people with genuine
>health needs. What I hear is, stats, production, income etc.,etc. I know that
>this is the drill for scientology and perhaps this is par for
>chiropractic...I'm not that familiar with how this industry is run.
To clarify, we lost our business back in 1997 after years of hard-selling (per
the managment policies) and running rough-shod over staff with heavy handed
ethics. We also began charging exhorbitant fees and demanding prepayment for
services. This was what was taught at the various WISE seminars and by the
consultants. We were engaging in heavy recall programs, harrassing and pushing
our clients to come in for their treatment. It really caused people to stay away
in droves. I mean, can you imagine how offensive that would be? Being SOLD
your healthcare services? We couldn't really see what was happening, after all,
if they weren't going to play the game according to our "org board" they must be
suppressive or at least 1.1 on the tone scale. This was our BLINDNESS.
Since then, we are an easy going office. No staff turn over. Our patients come when they want and pay as they go. They always return and refer others to us.
I don't even LOOK at statistics anymore. We have great weeks and poor weeks, just like before, only without the pressure and stress. I just take care of my patients and they take care of me.
>What I am trying to say is that you in some ways still sound like a
>scientologist and you've been our for 4-5 years, I gather. And I mean this
>respectfully although it may not sound that way. I couldn't read your email on
>the video and so I am posting this here.
I guess a part of me will always sound a little like a scientologist, though I
am working on that too. When you've been a part of something for so long I
think it is hard to drop it all at once. We will never return to the cult and a
big part of what I find myself doing at this time is helping other scientology
doctors to get out and tell their story. In this way, even if I never see a
penny of my money, I will cost them hundreds of thousands in future business and
save countless lives from spiritual and financial ruin.
The question might be asked, will I shut up if they give me my money back? I guess it depends on how much shit I have to wade through to get it. If they just do as their policies dictate and promptly refund, I will probably go away.
I don't have any deep desire to keep screaming at them. I have three young
children and a wife to spend a lot of time with.
Any other questions?
