Here's the first response we have recieved from the church of scientology's mafia intelligence service:

March 22, 2001 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hattaway, I am in receipt of your several letters requesting a refund of donations made to the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization.

As you know from your familiarity with Church policy and the many enrollment agreements you have both signed, you are not eligible for the refund of donations you request.

In those enrollment agreements, you repeatedly acknowledged that you "underst[ood], acknowledge[d] and agree[d] that the church is under no duty whatsoever to return any portion of any religious donation recieved from me."

You also acknowledged that you understood that the enrollment application constituted "a legally binding agreement" and that by signing it you were "intending to be legally bound hereby."

I have reviewed your combined accounts and found a total of $2,830.73 in unused donations that are available to you. Please let me know if this amount comports with your records, and if you would like to recieve this amount in exchange for a general release and waiver.
