I think it's terrible that this "religion" is allowed to abuse its members, the court system and use terroristic intimidation to curtail the first amendment rights of people who speak out against them.

I think it's terrible that the Scientology organization has prison camps for recalcitrant members. I think it's terrible that they are allowed to destroy peoples' lives with impunity. I think it's terrible that their fraudulent front groups destroy peoples' life savings and careers. I think it's terrible that the cult's indoctrination techniques can destroy a vulnerable person's sanity, and that these victims believe that they cannot seek help from qualified mental health practitioners thanks to Hubbard's phobias about psychiatry and psychology.

How would you like it if your family disconnected from you? How would you like it if your parents lost everything in a quest for a fictitious "Bridge?" How would you like it if your brother or sister turned into a babbling nutcase like Koos or B. Schwarz?

How do you think people who have been victims of this so-called "church"

feel?

Marke Twain did a damn fine job making fun out of the Church of Jesus Christ, Scientist. Considering how deadly "someone's religion" can be to non-participants as well as participants, humor is an appropreate tool to apply that criticism. A harmless religion will ignore humor at its expense, and will often join in (such as many Wiccans I know). A tyranical, abusive, criminal religion, or a business pretending to be a religion for tax-exemption status such as Scientology Inc., trembles in fear and rage at being subjected to humor.

It seems to me that humor is the best tool available to determine what is and is not a criminal, abusive, sinister, despotic religion or faux religion.
