The Ida Camburn Party
As I've posted here previously, I have had some fun parties here at my home.
Ida and I have been friends since I left the Cult/Scientology (well, since it was realized I wasn't a plant) and she's been a great help to me.
Each time we have a party, she and I lament she cannot come. Why? Ida lives about one and a half hours away from me. However, one of my friends, Graham Berry, offered to bring her to one of my parties (that's right Bill...amazing isn't it? And you told me he was "Sooooo 1.1" No he isn't.you are! And you lied to me, too!)
Ok.back to the party. If you don't know Ida, She's a mother who lost her son to the cult 30 Y E A R S ago, and she's been speaking out ever since. Ida started writing letters to Senators back when there were few, if any, 'critics' who were vocal.
Ida is one of the nicest persons .however I must say in the same breath ..she's also one of the toughest! Let's just say, Ida doesn't take ANY S--- from anyone~!
So once Graham told me he'd bring mom here, I decided we may as well have "The Ida Camburn Party" in honor of Ida.
The party was a HUGE success~! I asked people to arrive at 6, and as always, each person brings various tasty things. I had all the candles lit, and the back area lit up with twinkle lights and candles, So it looks pretty and soft. These people have all been here a few times now so we've got the party down.
One of Ida's friends, and mine decided to fly in. (As I never know if people want me to mention their names, I'll leave them out.and if the person wants to say who they are, please do!) She and I coordinated an award for Ida, which would be presented at the party.
It was all glass and engraved with a special message about Ida being Courage, and also the Mom of all Mom's, as she IS a mom to many of us. I kept it hidden until after she'd eaten and relaxed with friends.
Many of the people who came Ida has spoken to for some time on ARS, however she'd never met them, and vise versa, so that was fun!
Tons of people came, and as always, people were in the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, and out back.sitting and sharing all kinds of stories. It was quite a warm night here in LA, so people were both inside and outside, front and back. We all agreed this is SUCH a nice group of people. They really are!
As people arrived, so did some wonderfully lovely flowers for Ida.
Some were sent from people many states away. It was SO thoughtful of each of these people and mom loved it! The flowers were gorgeous and smelled divine.
Again, if those who sent them want to post here, please do ? Most of all, thank each of you!
There was literally tons of delicious food and drink. We all find it fun to have people bring things, as we're all always surprised.
As the night went on, the full moon came out. I don't know if you noticed, but for about an hour, there was a HUGE ring around the moon. This was just one more special thing about the evening.
Once all had eaten, I decided it was time for the award, which they'd all chipped in on and signed a large card we got for Ida. I asked one friend to round everyone up, and get them into the living room. That's a feet in itself, as my living room is tiny. However, we did it, and I gave a brief announcement about Ida.and gave her the award from all of us.
As I handed it to her, cameras snapped all over the room. She truly looked like Queen for a Day! She looked beautiful and there's just something I love about her smile. My heart sang as I watched this wonderful woman get a taste of how much we love her.
The night went on for hours with more eating and drinking (mostly sodas, a little wine and a few beers) and a grand time was had by all. At one point I thought of calling Andreas, as I know he would have loved to have been here. I figured it would be too early, so I didn't.
About 20 minutes after I had that thought.guess who called? ANDREAS!!! ? We were all happy to hear from him. Some other good friends called to wish Ida love and cheer too.
As the night came to an end, Ida looked like the beautiful woman she is, and a bit like a kid in a candy shop. She'd shared many of her amazing stories with all of us, and everyone enjoyed hearing them!
We figured out how to pack up all of here bouquets of flowers and tucked them into the car she was in to go home for the night.
Thank each and every person who came and helped celebrate this delightful person and her many achievements. Ida Camburn..
The world needs more of you!
As an 80-year old woman, when you look in her eyes, there's brightness and a kick of a young woman. She has taught all of us quite a bit, and we thank her greatly!
If you didn't get to come to her party, but you wished you could have, please feel free to e-mail her and tell her!
My love to you, Ida, and to all who helped with her celebration last night.
Love to all ?

To have a party to honor the 25 years of dedication exposing scientology by Ida Camburn - to gather (actual number deleted but it was HUGE number of) so many people.
Likely the largest gathering of those that scientology would label enemies of mankind.... larger than the largest early clearwater pickets and a damn good showing for a "small band of critics" as osa tells their own members....
And I would have sent flowers mom, but thought that you would prefer that I spent that money on stamps!
Here's a toast on the net to a lady who has taught so many of us, inluding myself, How Scientology really Works!
Love you!
