Before I even entered the church, I heard about the amazing powers that were to be gained by auditing and training. I heard so much about the ability to control situations, handle people using Tone 40, and the insights and spiritual expansiveness that would be mine if I were to join.
In time I came to learn that the best of times for the organization had passed.
Those that I once thought I had respected so much for their superior abilities actually lacked most of the everyday skills to effectively handle the real world and the problems inherent with daily living.
Knowing all this simply fascinates me when I see the desperation with which they are handling those who dare to challenge their supposed supremacy. I find this to be supremely ironic. Those scientologists who believed they could so easily control the masses because of their superior training and abilities must really be feeling doubt now.
All the harassment of people such as Gregg and Keith are the result of fear, so many fears. Mostly, however, it is the fear of having lost control. These superior beings are being bested by inferior wogs and SPs--oh, the horror of it all! This is in direct contrast to all they have been taught, all that they believe. They were taught to take control, to make it go right. In this endeavor they have failed--it is all going so very wrong.
The velcroed squid can alert the world to what a horrible person Gregg is. The church can harass Keith and his family, including his daughter. The Judas clan that calls themselves lawyers can martial their legal forces to harass and ruin.
The end result will be the same. The church, as it is currently known, will in time cease to exist.
My paternal grandmother always said that ill-gotten gains never came to any good. The church is proof of the correctness of that adage. They have used parishioner contributions, from parishioner's who truly believed their funds were being used for the greater good-not evil, to punish and harass those who dare to criticize. Karma remembers, and does even the score. It is simply a matter of time, which is on the side of the dissidents.
