It might interest people to know that I recently was having a conversation with a psychologist who has an expertise in testing. I told him about Scientology's practice of giving IQ tests before and after auditing. He said that a second IQ test should never be administered sooner than 6 months after the first one. To do so causes a learner effect (the person learned from the first test and so did better the second time, having nothing to do with any treatment or intervention). When I was in Scientology, I observed very typically people were being given IQ tests before and after auditing, sometimes just weeks or months apart. At times people might take 3 or 4 such tests in a period of 6 months and then claim the improvements were due to Scientology auditing. These results would be considered invalid by the standardized testing procedure, which requires at least a 6 month wait before the second test. It's not uncommon to wait an entire year when valid testing is done. Just thought I'd share that with you all.
