Hi folks,
I've been listening to Michael Jackson's music for years. My first 45 ever was "I Want You Back"! And, like the rest of the world, I've watched and been concerned at times as Michael passed through difficult periods in his life, hoping for the best.
I believe people are free to believe whatever they want to, so long as it doesn't cause others pain or suffering. It is in this spirit that I hope this message is taken and considered.
Unless Michael is a member of the Scientology cult, I would advise him to steer clear of their front groups, which do nothing but make more money for the cult, and indoctrinate others so they too can make more money for the cult, and get more members duped into its evil processes. The so-called "Hollywood Education and Literacy Program" (HELP) has been identified by the general public as a Scientology front group from its beginnings. The only things people are encouraged to read (if that's the correct word for memorization) are the alleged works of L. Ron Hubbard. As Michael was married to one of the sadder (and living) examples of Scientology, Lisa Marie Presley, one might otherwise assume that he was smarter than this.
Unless the HELP front group is removed from the beneficiaries list of "What More Can I Give?" I dare say that people will attempt to forget about it faster than one can imagine, while remembering the cult tie-in HELP brings with it. HELP's (so far undocumented) participation in this project is a stain on this project that can still be removed without much of a flap. Since the news is spreading rather quickly about all of this, it would be prudent to act as quickly as possible - and perhaps as loudly as possible - to remove HELP from the beneficiaries list. It would be a mark of dignity and self-respect - to say nothing of standing up for what is truly right and just in the world - for Michael to tell the world just what Scientology is all about, and what they've done to him and others.
Those of us who know about Scientology's true agendae in the world, and what this cult has done to thousands, have no problem with a quiet removal of HELP from the list, so long as it's done. For HELP to remain however would be an insult to every person who's ever enjoyed Michael's music, and a crime for every person duped into Scientology as a result of such exposure. I should also say that in responding to the web page, and not specifically to Michael Jackson's own group, I am running the risk of being the recipient of so-called "Black PR" by Scientologists. I am fairly sure that Michael knows what THAT is.
Michael should ask his Scientology handlers at HELP if any books written by black people are allowed reading in their organization. What about "Black Like Me", or for that matter Berry Gordy's "To Be Loved"? The list of LEGITIMATE works of literature NOT used by the HELP process is easily discerned by just asking them. The only works read by those run through the HELP process are those promoting Scientology.
Please rethink this and remove HELP from the groups attached to this project while there is still time. Michael's better than this.
Sincerely...

Jacko Drops Scientology as Beneficiary
You can thank this column for the following news. Michael Jackson has dropped Scientology as a beneficiary of his charity fundraising. At least publicly.
I told you exclusively that Jackson had included HELP, a Scientology literacy group, as one of the organizations which would get "some" of the proceeds from the $2 download of "What More Can I Give?"
Yesterday all reference to HELP was dropped from the download Web site, www.musicforgiving.com. Of course, this doesn't mean that Jackson himself won't be donating funds to Scientology. But that's his business.
Still, though, there remains no accounting for recent Jackson charity efforts. That should make anyone wary about "buying" "What More Can I Give?" over the Internet. My advice: if you want to, send a charitable donation directly to International Child Art Foundation or Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. They're each worthwhile, and you don't need a middle man to help you support them. ====================
