This vicious cult operates through front groups primarily these days, but has such a vile internaltional and US reputation that it has lost all but about 5,000 active members world wide (56,000 still get mailings though)... they do not and have not ever had 8 million members.

the peak was in 1982 with perhaps 250,000 members world wide... its collapsed from there due primarily to their use of thugs, hit men. and whores to do espionage and gain blackmail on its targets.. especially including politicians. Those when linked with Scientology publicly see their careers crash.. the public is largely aware that scientology is a criminal cult.
