The April 1976 issue of Freedom newspaper in Clearwater (a Scientology publication) makes a big issue on the front page on how overly security conscious the St. Petersburg Times is, with number locks on certain floors, and security cameras. One caption says "Extensive security measures suggest something more high-powered than routine newspaper functions."
A late 70's parody of then mayor Gabe Cazares by Scientology showed him in a Death Star-like dome atop city hall, with security cameras pointing everywhere and Gabe watching the monitors.
Obviously then Scientology thinks that over-security consciousness is a sign that something more than just routine business is going on.
Ok, let's run with that. What about El Kamel's statement on the
witness stand that he is a security guy for Scientology, and he
monitors over 100 security cameras for Scientology! How about all the
security guards that run around downtown Clearwater everywhere? How
about the motion sensors around the Ft. Harrison Hotel and Hacienda
Gardens apartments? How about the fence and gates around Hacienda
Gardens? (see http://www.lisatrust.net/clearwater/cameras.htm for pics
of some of these security measures)
By Scientology's own measure, Scientology is doing something more
than just the routine motions of a "religion." I wonder what that
would be?
