Just to give this document some perspective, it was written some 11
years before Reed started his 'Investment Club'.
In 1977, Slatkin was a field auditor and the CoS did not yet have tax exempt status. Kreiner is basically weighing the merits of making auditors either independant contractors or full time employees for tax purposes. He winds up the letter by vaguely implying that although Reed is partially bound by pesky MEST laws, the Church of Scientology provides an extra layer of protection against any would-be litigants.
Kreiner has represnted the CoS in IRS related cases and was Deputy Guardian Legal in the Guardian's Office during the Snow White debacle.
Flash-forward 24 years and Kreiner turns out to be the single biggest profiteer from Slatkin's ponzi scheme. He was partners with Reed on several real estate deals as well.
