Ed Hattaway Dear xxxxx, You do not know me and this letter may strike you as unusual, but I have been involved with the Church of Scientology for the last 15 years. At this time, as far as I know, I am still in good standing but that may soon change because of some disturbing things I have uncovered about our church, the technology and upper management of the church. I wouldn’t blame you if you threw this letter down at this point, but I promise it does not contain any OT level material or anything that will mess with your case.

I started out at the Atlanta mission in 1985 and was a chiropractic student. I was introduced to the tech through WISE. I was a part of Singer Consultants and have consulted with Revaine (?) Markus when he was working with Lyn Irons and Ruth Valko. I went up the Grades to clear, did the KTL, LOC, Pro TRS, some auditor training, SOLO I and L’s 11 and 12 at Flag along with a whole host of other OT preps and special rundowns. My wife was on staff and in the SO for several years.

I began doing some research into the church when a scientology friend mentioned that some of the books had changed. At the time, I thought nothing of it.

Then, one Sunday afternoon, I decided to look for myself. See, when I got into Scientology, Ron had just dropped his body and all the books were still these thin books, authored by him alone. Well, I decided to compare a couple of them.

What happened next completely shocked me.

I looked at an old copy of Dianetics 55! and compared to the latest version we had. Within 5 minutes and 4 pages I was able to find 4 alterations. Some were grammatical; others were changes in content and meaning. You may want me to give you the specifics, fair enough. I will do one better. I was able to find other current and former Scientologists who had done the same research. I have enclosed a packet of just some of these alterations.

As I began looking into this more and more I came to discover many disturbing facts about our church. One thing that concerned me greatly was when I discovered that all of the trademarks for the Scientology Religion and all the copyrights for all the materials, including the OT levels, was owned by an organization known as the Church of Spiritual Technology (CST). This "church"

has a board of Special Directors consisting of the following members: Sherman Lenske, Meade Emory (former assistant to the Commissioner of the IRS), Lymon Spurlock and Leon Misterek. Lenske, Emory and Misterek are probate and tax attorneys and non-scientologists. Spurlock claims to be a scientologist and is a CPA. In other words, the church we have lived for, gone into hock for and trusted as "the most ethical organization on the planet" is owned and controlled by lawyers who are not even Scientologists!
There is much more about this to understand and know. You may want to know where the information comes from. Fair enough. It comes from sworn testimony from David Miscavaive and others in Int. Management involved in a number of different depositions. But, we found out a few other things that really helped us.

Did you know that there are no LRH trained Class XII auditors left in the SO?

Guess where they are? They got out. They saw what was happening to the church and left. Many of them left in 1982/83 when Miscavaige took over the church.

Guess what they are doing now? They are auditing. They are auditing using the tech that LRH developed, not the "squirrel tech" that the Scientology Religion has developed.

I spoke to an auditor out west for more than an hour one night. He is a class VIII who used to run some missions in California. He delivers the entire Bridge and audits pc’s who are even on staff! He can deliver the Bridge beyond OT 8.

He can deliver Super Power and the L Rundowns. His rates are about 20% of what the church charges.

When we found this out we were free. We could have our Bridge without the hassles. Free from the extreme fees, free from the weird reg cycles, free from the financial pressure that drained the life out of my business and my family.
