I have been lurking in ARS for about two years now.

Somehow I feel that I know many that have been regular posters. It's kind of like a TV show where you feel you know the characters.

I think it's time to post my story. It's a bit different than most in that it is not a horror story, but nonetheless interesting (I think).

I became involved in $cn in 1984. Like many, I started by reading Dianetics.

I was impressed so I then visited the local ORG (New Haven CT, USA).

My involvement as a "public" scientologist lasted only six months. I did not have the money that was required at the time. I did though, buy ALL of the LRH books and read them all (over and over).

I then proceeded to be what I would call an "independent scientologist"

that is, I followed LRH's tech from the books and applied it to my life.

I have to say that the infomation that I got from the books worked. I especially had success with the financial information. I was able to improve my life as a result of the application of tech that I gained from the LRH books.

Like many practicing scientologists, I was offended by the Time Magazine article of 1990 "The Cult of Greed and Power". I, like many scientologists, thought that the article was just a hit-job by those who did not understand.

I also believed that there were "crimes involved" by the author.

I considered myself a scientologist until the time that I discoverd ARS and "Operation Clambake". I was surfing and I found Clambake out of nowhere.

I then proceed to read ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that I could from the Internet regarding $cn.

What I read suprised me (to say the least). I read ALL of the online books and the posts in ARS. What I came away with was I total realization.

That, the tech that I had been using to improve my life was taken from other sources and that LRH was not what I was led to believe. In fact, he was a flim-flam man (Confidence-man for those in Europe).

I have to tell you all, I did not feel bad (like I thought I would), I felt relieved!

There was always something about $cn that made me nervous and now I knew what it was.

I want to take this opportunity to say that I greatly admire people like Arnie Lerma, Tory (Magoo), Stacy Brooks, Bob Minton, Zenon Pannoussis, Andreas (clambake) and many others.

These people have endured and endless assault from $cn. I cannot even comprehend how they can deal with it.

I wish the best of luck to all. The truth is the best "high" of all.
